Irish DPC greenlights Facebook’s “GDPR bypass”.

  1. It’s fucking stupid how the Irish DPC (Data Protection Commission) acts in the interests of Facebook and against the GDPR and european citizens.

Let’s just hope that like with the WhatsApp case it will reach the EDPB which will actually make a overruling decision that is lawful and in the sense of the GDPR.

    > The Draft Decision was now sent to the other European Data Protection Authorities (DPAs), who can raise objections to the proposed solution by the Irish DPC. It is very likely that this case will then reach the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) where the DPAs can overrule the Irish DPC, just like in a recent case on WhatsApp.

  2. “Republic of Apple&Facebook greenlights Facebook’s GDPR bypass”

Ireland has brought to reality those dystopian futures where mega-corporations are so powerful they supersede actual nations.

  3. Just FYI they didn’t green light anything just sent the draft proposal from FB to commission and DPAEU on why FB thinks it can bypass GDPR. Their argument is that you are signing a contract using FB and thus some GDPR rules don’t apply. Which is bullshit really they wanted Irelands approval and approval of few other countries so that they can say in court that see they agree. But this won’t really hold up in court.
