Overtime ban by Aslef train drivers to bring further rail disruption

  1. Just a thought, but if there aren’t enough staff to do any job without resorting to regular overtime, doesn’t that mean the company needs more staff.

I know this article is about ASLEF train drivers, but it really applies to all workplaces.

  2. Overtime is banned in many NHS trusts and private companies now. Welcome to the real world. Pay you a pittance, and dont even give you the chance to make the money up.

  3. The railway has generally run on the goodwill of it’s staff for years, unfortunately that good will has gone with the current state of industrial relations.

The TOCs will likely just amend their timetables to reduce the number of jobs diagrammed those days.

  4. Can we please just automate the railways? No need to have drivers when a computer could do a better job and wouldn’t moan about pay all the bloody time.
