Irish Times poll: Ireland should continue to accept all Ukrainians

  1. >Under half (48 per cent) of voters say there are “too many refugees in Ireland now”, while 43 per cent disagree. However, the numbers suggest that at least some of those who believe there are too many refugees here also believe that Ireland should keep taking them.

I’d love to spend an hour inside some of these people’s heads, baffling stuff.

  2. Did they ring people with a ‘house’ and a ‘house phone’.

‘Cause I have neither and that would not have been my answer.

  3. “In a similar (though differently worded) Ipsos poll for The Irish Times last year…”

2022 “Should Ireland accept all Ukrainians who can make it or should there be a cap on numbers”

2023 “It is important Ireland continues to accept all Ukrainians that can make it here”

Definitely worded differently, you’re not wrong about that.

  4. It would be a massive benefit to Ireland to bring in skilled Ukrainians given significant labour shortages. The only reason it’s a debate is the housing crisis, which unfortunately is severe enough to make the debate legitimate. More pointedly, there’s no good reason Ireland can’t take on more Ukrainians other than problems of their own creation.

  5. The answer is simple. Yes we should. Can we continue to accept refuges… The answer to that is, unfortunately for all, likely no. Ireland does not have the housing capacity.

  6. I read that article and this headline is utter shite. There’s a major problem here and major dissatisfaction, and major disorientation…and these malignant little clowns are tinkering away with 1 and 2 percent trying to force their preferred fairytale
