My czech got better by having my wife talk with me only in czech for 12 years. You can absolutely tell I am not a native when speaking, but I started attracting Czech grammar nazis when writing, which gotta mean mean it’s getting good 🙂
I was taught as a kid from my moms side Czech ever since I was a baby so my Czech is understandable but the grammar is horrible

I’m surprised how quickly the Ukrainians have learned pretty solid czech, but slavic languages are closer together

Vidím to skoro stejně a to musím změnit, když chci do politiky/státní správy.
Pan prezident sice zkouší házet klacky pod kola, ale zvládli jsme Zemana tak Pavla taky zvládneme.
Férově řečeno, ani většina čechů neumí dobře česky.
Cesta do češtiny. Bohužel máme 7 pádů

I’ve heard a story about one student unable to pass a reading exam while studying in Charles University. She lost all hopes and asked her Czech friend to read for her. It was during the COVID times, so it was possible arrange impersonation, remotely. So her she-friend did read the text for her. And her teacher said “Ne, slyším přízvuk, neprošla jsi”.
Tak česky pořádně neumí nikdo na západ od Olomouce, buď v klidu 😄
Stačilo by to, že mohl bych aspoň psat tak, že nikdo mě nenařknul za používání Google překladač. Ale po každé to stane.

Učím se český dva a půl roky a naučil jsem se, že mluvit v češtině plynulě je nemožný.

Don’t worry about not speaking like a native (dialects, slang etc), start with basics 🙂
Yeah speaking as a Czech nowadays I can hardly speak Czech without inserting English words every couple sentences.
This applies to pretty much any language, no?
