I do find it exceptionally weird the amount of attention this is getting v.s. the hundreds of millions that the tories have looted from the public’s purse for the purpose of redistributing to their mates in an act of mass fraud.
It’s not that I don’t believe that misappropriation of donated funds isn’t something that should be investigated and punished, if this is actually what’s occurred here, but the sheer saccharine glee that is dripping off some the comments frequenting these posts is just weird. It’s like they were holding their breath waiting for an inevitable SNP fuck-up so they could point the finger and say “see, you’re just as bad as us!” when actually the crimes aren’t really comparable in the slightest.
‘Operation Branchform is examining more than 1000 transactions including Amazon purchases, fancy cookware and luxury pens. Officers have also been hunting for unregistered sim cards.’
The plot is thickening
Please note – when the article says “bought with cash” it doesn’t mean a suitcase full of used banknotes. It means it wasn’t financed via the dealer or a bank.
This is not an uncommon way to buy an expensive vehicle if you plan to keep it a while.
Cash you say… this would have been reported to the inland revenue…
Very sensible of them. Buying something for ‘cash’ would be the cheapest way to purchase a large value item. financing a vehicle is a rip-off.
Shame they only bought one. If all politicians used a company camper van, they’d save a fortune on hotel and accommodation fees when they’re traipsing around the country doing meet and greets and all that.
Totally normal way to buy such an expensive item. Nothing to see here, move along sucker
I wasn’t able to buy my car with anymore than £10k cash and rest had to be bank transfer . Thought that was the regulations against money laundering. How the hell did they pay £100k in cash ?
Making large capital purchases with cash
• assuredly the actions of a person who knew their actions were entirely legal and legitimate.
