Covid ceased to be a major issue quite some time ago. We’re now just waiting for the powers that be to relinquish their grip on society. This will take some time as many have been damaged by this ordeal. They have grown to like the restrictions.
There’s money to be made and laws to pass. What chance does an obese, weak willed and cowardly population stand against an organised campaign to impose China style tyranny?
Don’t worry friends. At 3AM you’re sound asleep in your beds. At 3AM I’ve already run 10 miles and I’m pumping with ginseng ready to bitchslap a bison.
If you’re worried about your elderly, sick or fat relatives then take a test before you see them. There’s literally no reason to reinstitute the limits on gatherings.
If you’re proven to not have covid then there’s no risk is there? Why comply for no reason?
According to publicly available stats, the UK had 105k new cases yesterday, 89k new cases on Tuesday, 90k on Monday. If the number of new cases is still increasing, it’s not much of a plateau. Might not be as exponential as it was last week, but that’s not really the same thing as a levelling off.

Seems like everytime we’re told cases are flattening/plateauing they then jump up a lot a day or two later.
Edit: to be clear, I’m not one who believes covid is hoax.

Looks like England will avoid any restrictions, just a short journey for the Irish, Scottish and Welsh to come have a proper new years.
Ah yes Professor Alastair Grant again, he is fast becoming the Patrick Minford of Covid.
It seems really premature to say cases have “flattened”.
The number of tests taken has gone up 50% (from 1m to 1.5m) in December.
The percentage of positive tests has gone up about 15% in december (from 4.5% to 5.1%)
Looking at the number of cases without considering the above points is mostly meaningless I think?
I wonder what has caused such a sharp increase in the number of tests being taken in December?
