I think it’s just called summer, happens every year, sometimes good sometimes a bit shit.
It’s getting hotter every spring and summer now. I’ve had to get thermal blackout curtains this year as my front room gets well hot. Could have done with them last year but prior to that it was never an issue.
It’s almost like, and hear me out here… we’ve been destroying the natural world for nearly two centuries and despite being told that it’ll result in unbearable heat, among other things, we ignore it and demonize those that talk the loudest about it. Maybe?
I’ve started getting very anxious around April/May time anticipating how hot it’s going to get. It gets hotter earlier in the season and the temperatures we’re seeing are breaking records half the time. And yet we still get people going “hurr durr it’s the summer”… yeah, multiple years of the hottest summers we have ever seen, and they’re only going to get hotter. It’s frightening.
People absolutely despise me for hating the oppressive heat and it’s always baffled me.
Growing up in Britain I’ve never been of very cold or very hot. I hate hot weather but everyone absolutely loves it. I love the sun being out don’t get me wrong and a nice bit of warmth against my skin but this 25+ heat every day is just brutal.
And that’s before you even get to what this weather means for us in the future….
There seems to he a profusion of these ‘weather company/consultancy shares exact dates when heatwaves will hit’…’Britain to bake in 40c heatwave’ clickbait stories but the actual predictions are subject to a lot of chances and change. Met office and other larger meteorological orgs tend to be a bit nore circumspect about long range forecasts. The trend for UK Summer temps though is still absolutely in line with that predicted by climate change, hotter summers with more unpredictable/lower rainfall.
This season of great British bake off is dragging on a bit…
Downvote me if you want but this looks like more scaremongering to me. Summers are hot and winters are cold there is nothing new here
Actually been really enjoying this ~25c weather and cool at nights.
It’s the 30+ that is nasty.
There part of me in two minds about how I see the world.
There’s me trying my best to do my best. I’m vegetarian, never owned a car, walk most places or get the bus, recycle and don’t have any kids. I’l admit it’s not easy to not be a hypocrite but I try my best.
But at the same time, while I’m walking along the side of the road I see how many cars pass me and think ‘why the fuck do I even bother?’ I’m here like a mug washing out my cat food tins so they can be recycled when practically everything else I do not only cancels it out but surpasses any attempt I try and make the world a greener place.
I would love to keep the world in balance but I feel the arrogance of man will mean I’m just as better off getting my factor 200 sun tan lotion and hope my nuts don’t fall off in the winter.
Meanwhile half the country sits in traffic in their SUV’s blasting out the Aircon on a 100~ meter trip to Tesco pondering: “Why’s it so hot?”
People are stuck in their ways and we’re fucked lol.
I want to quit my job, unfortunately I have to do nightshifts on a rota. So difficult to sleep during the day, I am boiled alive!!!
Let’s forget about the impending collapse of society and probably extinction of not only the human race but the majority of species on this planet for a second. We should really remember, that despite all this, our economies are growing and shareholders are enjoying record profits.
I absolutely hate how the media seems to glorify this. I’ve been stuck on my couch all day because I know if I move, I will start sweating. Temperature says 28c in my living room right now and I am seriously considering getting either a portable or fixed AC. I can’t be doing with 5 more of these.
Looks like I’ll be filling my bin up again with water very soon.
Air Conditioners will be a slowly growing business for a long time
I felt like dying today, when my time comes I’m taking as many of you with me!😤
The richest people on the planet are getting their bunkers ready for the fallout, while blaming Average Joe for doing the smallest actions that emit greenhouse gases. It’s great for them because it means people yell at climate change activists and ignore the fact that the super rich are the worst polluters and are actively sowing dissent to stop us realising that.
People act as if XR and Just Stop Oil are the problem but climate activists are nothing compared to the famines and droughts that will become the norm in 30 years or so. The right also hate immigration as it stands now, which is nothing compared to what we will see once climate refugees flee sub-Saharan Africa or the Indian subcontinent en masse. Seriously, we could see ten times the number of crossings we have now if climate refugees start trying to get to safer countries. It will be a shitshow but I suspect too many are ignorant to the fact that it will happen in their lifetime.
All of these heatwaves taking place over the next couple of months?
The word is summer.
Thank christ our well managed water industry has built lots of water infrastructure to cope with the extended dry periods and water demand.
Be really fucked up if we hadn’t done that, and instead just privatised it all for a quick quid and then let private equity squeeze the last drops out of it.
