So, your statement of fact is confusing: are you stating that Spain produces 60% of its demand or 160% of its demand? In the US, many providers don’t actually produce all (or much) of the energy needed by their consumers and they buy from third-party (independent) generators whose sole job is to generate electricity. The providers are primarily responsible for transmission and distribution. If you’re asking the latter, which it seems you are, 2018 data from https://www.worlddata.info/europe/spain/energy-consumption.php shows that Spain only produces an extra 8% (not 60%, but it’s been 4+ years) of electricity meaning they sell the extra, much like a third-party producer. Given grid location, I’d say they either sell it to Portugal or France.
Spain also has lots of nuclear power plants.
Some fucker is massively profiteering.
I checked about 10 years ago. Politicians of all parties had lumumba-jobs at the utility companies after they helped them while in office and then went to retirement. The utility companies spent half of their sales in “public relation” which can be translated 1:1 to “half of the electricity bill is for bribery”.
Poor Spain, nor right nor left, all corrupt! I think I understand the old saying that in a dictature you have one hijo de puta, in a democracy you have thousands.
“10 renewable solar plants are put into use”
Solar plants do not generate enough energy. Spain buys its electricity from France and Portugal. Also, what do you mean with solar plants? There is no way 10 solar plants are put in use in Spain every day.
Why is everyone who comments here “delete” his account? Am i next lol?
Ok, France haver much more nuclear planta, and os planned to build even more, un Spain there are less plants, older (average), and all the plans for new ones are kept apart because political reasons.
Now the electric bills had been increased A LOT in the last year, having new all time high record every month on the past 4 months.
The consumption is higher than ever, and we’re buying energy from France at a high cost.
Great deal.
Well, I think it is mostly because almost all our energy comes from fossil fuels, like petrol or natural gas.
This fossil fuels have had an increasing price in the recent years, mostly because covid made it not only difficult to transport but also decreased demand, which only made it worse because
less demand=less production
less production=higher prices
Even though a lot of renewable energiy plants are opening, they are still making a little amount of our consumption.
Edit: I have just searched about the renewable production. And I had a big surprise! In 2020 it was expected that 43,6% of our production would be renewable! Today I have a little more of hope.
Just check the TSO’s annual report on the electricity system.
Check page 23 on the “Informe Completo”. Spain generates all the electricity it needs, although interconnections are relevant both in quantity and establishing hourly prices.
me cago en la madre que pario a iberdrola. chorizos hijos de puta.
I wouldn’t be surprised that our shitty politicians were making a lot of money out of this.
El precio lo marca el precio del la energía más cara usada en cada hora, si se usa gas, dada la guerra económica Algeria-Marruecos que restringe el suministro, el precio se dispara.
That’s not true at all!!!!!
Spain may have an INSTALLED capacity of 160% it’s electrical demand. But this does not account for, a) very old power plant b) coal plants that are being dismantled c) plants being being maintained, and it c) assumes all plants operating below 100% capacity (not true for windpower or hydroelectric power).
And even if that was true if the gas/petrol is expensive the energy generated by these plants it’s going to be expensive. Plus taxes.
