I’m sure the usual “if you’re OK with eating meat you should be OK with this too” weirdos will pop along shortly, but aside from the owner’s loss, we really should worry about the mindset of the sort of person who does this for fun, and what they might graduate to. Someone who clearly enjoys killing is wandering about town with a sword.

It’s no different than the kids who were killing ducks along the canal by me. We should be concerned about individuals who do harm animals.
I’m more concerned about the fact that you can get a sword durable and sharp enough to decapitate several sheep in one sitting than the fact that some pet sheep were killed.
Wasn’t expecting this to be the first time I’ve seen my home town featured on this sub.

Surely the police investigating have heard of those cases where sheep are being killed and the meat sold on the black market? It’s way more likely theft than some maniac.
Instead of stealing the sheep and going to the bother of slaughtering them elsewhere (which would be a pain logistically speaking) they do it on location and often leave behind the parts they can’t sell (such as the heads, fleeces). This of course, looks gory… but it’s not ritualistic or anything, like some on here are implying. Even ‘pet’ sheep have been slaughtered and sometimes the meat isn’t technically fit for human consumption.
There are some organised gangs doing it, but perhaps in this case it was just 1 or 2 people trying to make some extra, illicit cash? Maybe they’d seen stories in the media about similar incidences and it gave them the idea.
Maybe it’s someone in the trade who has access to the right sort of knives, not a sword?
I hope the killer and thief of the sheep is caught soon because the sheep price is no joke.
Horrific. This country is fcking insane. I’m not sure a labour government will change this. Of course it will be a better idea than now but this country will remain fcking insane for a long long time
