A teenage boy has died in a two-car collision near Mitchelstown, Co Cork. The crash happened at around 1am between Junctions 12 and 13, on the northbound carriageway of the M8 motorway.

The victim was a passenger in one of the cars.

Gardaí say that the driver of the car, a teenage boy, and three other passengers, an adult male in his teens, a teenage boy and teenage girl, were taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH) with non-life threatening injuries.

  1. Teenagers were known to the gardaí. GSOC have been informed due to an interaction with the gardaí before the incident on the M8.

  2. I hope the innocent woman they hit head on on the M8 while fleeing the Gardaí is going to recover from her injuries. Can’t say I hope for the same outcome for the perpetrators.

  3. Since they learnt the cheat that driving the wrong way on a motorway would reduce their Wanted Level to 0 Stars, this was always going to happen.

  4. Oh Christ, not another. (There’ll be pitchforks out about the Gardai, obscuring the fact of this constant criminal activity and its predictable outcome, which is the urgent story that needs to be shouted from the bloody rooftops.) A 16 year old kid, for God’s sake. Young lads shouldn’t be vulnerable like this, when every week there seems to be a death from their ranks in this manner. It breaks your heart to think of his short life lost through this essentially copycat behaviour. What could dissuade them from getting into this caper?

The poor woman; these car thieves are in charge of a lethal weapon in these pursuits, and I reckon inflicting such injuries on another driver should be classed among the most serious crimes of all.

  5. Scumbags driving the wrong way down the motorway and collide with an innocent motorist, hopefully the motorist recovers and the surviving scumbags experience a long custodial sentence.

  6. >The incident has been referred by gardaí to the Garda Siochána Ombudsman Commission, as gardaí say the car in which the teenagers were travelling had an interaction with them prior to the collision.

A Garda wondering today if they’ll be facing charges for doing their job so!

  7. I hope the woman in the other car recovers without life altering injuries- physical or mental. Fvck the rest of them

  8. I hope the woman they hit will be okay. They should all be charged for causing her such harm.

  9. It’s unfortunate that “felony murder” is no longer on the books here, if the Guards can’t do anything in the moment then I think the only solution is to throw the book at every person participating in this behaviour.

  10. Why does the article withhold the information about which car the deceased was travelling in? What is the point of that?

  11. ‘The car had been reported stolen to gardaí earlier this week and had been travelling in the wrong direction on the motorway when the collision occurred’.

Since it’s been announced that Gardaí will be charged for chasing criminals and that driving down the wrong way of the motorway is a free pass, there’s been a big increase in cunts trying this. It’s actually mind boggling how it’s coming to this. More innocent people are going to have life changing injuries or die while the ‘Parents’ of these little rats blame others for their failures. Fuck those teenagers, hope they all are erased. Scum.

  12. Ironically the DPP decision to charge the Garda in the previous chase with endangerment has vastly increased the danger on our roads.
