Mrs thinks I’m a weirdo, but am I the only one who cleans out their tin cans for recycling bins, she thinks I go too far by using the can opener for cans 😅

  1. Yes, the majority crush it with one hand instead of the better foot stomp and would never consider rinsing it out never mind going the whole hog like you did there.

Your method is obviously better for recycling purposes but takes too long

  2. I always top the beans tin with soapy dish water and then rinse it clean a few hours or days later!

    Perfectly normal behaviour.

  3. I rinse them but taking the top off is too much work for me.

  4. yeah shes right you are, but are you also one of those weirdos that leaves are large gulp in it too?

  5. Straight to the bin, washed or not they get recycled anyway… But sure look it, you can fill your first can with your second can and so on… lol

  6. I usually pop the empty can upside down in the the sink when I’m going to the fridge for me next one.

The next morning there’s a nice collection of well drained cans for the recycling bin.

  7. Seems like a waste of water with no benefit to it really.

  8. As far as I am aware but I’m probably talking out of my arse. For recycling aluminium cans it all just ends up in a big smelter and everything non metallic gets incinerated.

  9. This has to be the most oddball way of wasting time I’ve ever heard of. Cans are recycled by being melted down to be made into new cans, so any residue that might be in them would be vapourised in the process. You’re scrubbing them for absolutely no reason what so ever.

  10. I’ll rinse them out if it’ll be a few days before I’m going to the bottle bank, that’s all.

  11. I rinse my cans before I put them in the recycling but I wonder is it actually necessary? Most towns have recycling bins dotted around and you can be sure no one is going through those cleaning the items in it. I’d assume they’re all dumped into the same machine to be recycled. Anyone actually know the craic with recycling?

  12. there has to be a device to press on a new lid think of the reuse possibilities

  13. I do the same, a beer can gives a very satisfying opening compared to a regular can.
Fucked if I’m wasting time actually filling it, quick rinse, stand the carcass upside down and grab it’s nearest comrade.
