Hello Reddit,

I have a two weeks holiday coming up with my girlfriend in August, and we’re planning on spending as much time of it as possible in nature.

starting from Eidfjord north west of the park on the F4 train from oslo we have two possible destenations:

1. 150km hike Rjukan south east of the park, two train connections to Oslo.

2. 120km hike to Røldal south west of the park, then taking the NW180 bus back to Oslo

my girlfriend has a better hiking experince than me. she’s done multiple multi week wildcamping trips, but I only had a one night where I had to camp unexpectedly in nature, else I did lots of day long trips, we’re both in decent shape but not actively doing sports.

our plan is to bring two 40l packpacks and fill them with food and clothing mainly. stop each 15 km or so for the night at the next hut (As the map shows) and if we are energatic still we can go out and explore the area around.

my understanding is that it could rain a lot, and it could be very cold or very warm so having lots of layers is a must.

of course emergency kit and cellphones, and high ankel hiking shoes.

we will need a subscription to DNT (my understanding is that we can get it at the airport in oslo along with the keys).

aside from having to check for tecks and mosquitoes is there other things we should be aware of ?
is this a reasonable plan ?

option #1 sounds best to me since I’m thinking it would take us 1-1,5 days to get to the starting point / return and have 15km per day (10 days) and stay in oslo for a day or two.

finally I see that the NW180 bus has more than 180 stops, I’m gussing it only stops if there is someone on the bus stop or someone pressed the stop button, correct ? else it sounds like a huge waste of time.
