  1. Two Irish teenage boys have died on a post-Leaving Cert holiday on the Greek island of Ios.

The death of Max Wall was confirmed in the late afternoon by St Michael’s College, Dublin, after the death of his classmate, Andrew O’Donnell was announced on Sunday morning.

The boys were part of a larger group of young people from the Ballsbridge secondary school who were holidaying on the Greek Island of Ios to celebrate the end of the Leaving Certificate exam.

  2. So sad.

Apparently the one boy had a heart attack after hearing his best friend died.

  3. You’d wonder what happened for them to die within a few hours of each other

But Jesus Christ how awful, that poor group of friends will never be the same

  4. Jesus that’s horrible. My friends daughter is over there. Supposedly a good few hundred of them were travelling together from the various girls and boys schools from South Dublin.

  5. Aww that’s absolutely terrible especially on a first well earned holiday after the leaving. An absolute highlight of growing up in ireland. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of these young men.

  6. was the year ahead of both boys, friends with the brother of Max – obviously we’re all completely shocked and I don’t think it’s hit anyone yet

Andrew fell off a cliff we believe and was missing since 1pm yesterday when the lads started looking for him, then this morning the lads were getting ready at the port to go home and Max had a heart attack (has grown up with heart issues)

pure tragedy, may they rest in piece

  7. My heart goes out to the families and friends. Two young lives snuffed out far too soon.

  8. An-bhrónach. Ar dheis lámh Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

  9. So heartbreaking . I know mum s who s teenagers were heading over to Ios after the leaving cert .I remember her saying she was more anxious about the holiday than the leaving. God help the parents .it’s just so tragic .

  10. What a heartbreaking tragedy. Those poor poor families. The boys deservedly celebrating the end of their Leaving and the start of their adulthood. May they Rest in Peace and may their families and friends find the strength and support they need to get through this truly traumatic time. God love them all x
