Hello,

I changed apartments recently and since I want to install new light bulbs I wanted to turn off power in whole apartment so I don’t get electrocuted.
I noticed that all switches were “on” except one marked “LATT. LAMM.” and I turned it on but I don’t know what it does… Does someone knows what that means? I added picture, so maybe that helps.

  1. You don’t need to switch off the whole electricity when you change light bulbs. Just make sure the light switch is off. And even if it’s on, you won’t get electrocuted

  2. I’m really interested in the switch on left of the picture. Does it say Pääkytkin?

  3. LATT.LAMM aka lattialämmitys aka floorheating in apartments is usually referring to bathroom floor heating and it eats LOT of electricity and it is often separate from normal heating meaning it will often go to your electric bill. You might want to find out if this is the case in your apartment and not have it on all the time, because it can get expensive.

  4. Well generally you just gotta turn the lights off before changing a bulb unless you plan on taking out the entire light.

If that is the case the lever riight out of frame likely reads “Pääkytkin” which will shut off **all** power to the apartment.

  5. Have the floorheating on always, in or just outside the bathroom you should find the adjustments for it so you can keep it on low. Mold in Finland is no joke, you might have to renovate the whole bathroom and if it’s due to negligence the bill can go to the renter.
