  1. I’ll probably get downvoted but I’m not sure all the claims will hold up. What were their rules of engagement for a start? It should be investigated but some of this sounds a bit sensationalist.

Just because more were killed than had weapons alone doesn’t mean a great deal. If there was a combatant holding a grenade (it’s not stated where it was found) then yes, they will have got everyone killed. Grenades are hard to see in someones hand and by the time you see it thrown at you, you are fucked.

Bullets don’t tend to stop when they hit someone either, if you’re in a hallway and engage someone with a weapon and someone is behind them there is a good chance they’ll get hit. Most rifle rounds will have no issue going through a person, through the wall and into something on the other side also. There is not a great deal you can do about that.

There were hundreds, probably over a thousand of these raids carried out by the SAS and SBS in Afghan and Iraq. I have no doubt fuck ups were made but I do think the context is important. They are human and if you storm enough buildings with night vision, no floor plan and knowing little about who or how many people are going to be in there – nor who is friendly or who is foe it’s a perfect recipe for the potential of the wrong person getting shot.

  2. Doesnt surprise me especially when you look at other special forces units around the world that have been found out to be commiting similar acts (especially the aussies) and hear some ex UKSF guys speak about their time in the military. Its not an excuse but when you create extremely violent and aggressive men then turn them loose bad things will happen. Mix in the special forces untouchable attitude and its a recipe for disaster.

Heres hoping that at least some of these soldiers see the inside of a prison cell for what they have done but thats not likely when you look at the other fucked up shit British soldiers have gotten away with. Even if it does happen it will take a while.
