I think there’s an argument for it. The ability to bring in revenue is one of the things they trot out to justify the high salaries for recognisable names. Ditch the advertising, ditch the big salaries, let the private sector chase audience numbers and revenue and let the public broadcaster provide unprofitable but socially useful content.

Launch the two Johnnies and Baz Ashmawy in a rocket into space and replace the two Johnnies with Viper Higgins.
Oh and use ChatGPT powered AI to replace Joe Duffy.
Millions saved and far better content.

News, sport, current affairs, politics domestically aimed entertainment content. End ‘self employed contractor’ nonsense. Salary caps. Mandatory nepotism declarations for all future hires.
