  1. I bet most of these assholes are posting this stupid behavior on their socials

  2. Fine them consequently until this behavour ends. Only possible solution

  3. > Meanwhile in Venice, tourists routinely swim in the UNESCO-protected canals, which double as the city’s sewer system.

I wanted to suggest throwing them into the sewers, but they apparently do it themselves.

  4. I grew up with social media. I remember when YouTube exploded, when everyone wanted to become a vlogger, which became an YouTuber. I remember when Facebook was all the hype and this was recent. You will always see young people doing dumb things for attention, as well. But I don’t know if it is just the extra exposure or something like that, but it feels like people are getting dumber by the day, specially with TikTok. The amount of people doing stupid things just to get some views are not like it was 10 years ago and, again, this is not something ancient.

It really feels like at one point one TikTok video will end up in a massive tragedy and people will need to review every relationship with this video stream obsession.

  5. I’m an American and can’t imagine being Italian living in a place like Florence or Venice without harboring SOME level of resentment, if not downright hatred, towards tourists especially from the UK or U.S.

I live in NYC and while we get tons of visitors, the city is big enough to still carry on with your life.

  6. And this is why, as an American, I love southeast Tuscany/Umbria. American property owners, and the few American tourists that visit are successful, evolved, polite, respectful and well behaved. And they speak the language.

  7. I fucking hate them all. This year it seems that they are even more stupid than usual.

Every morning I risk throwing under my scooter 3 or 4 of them outside the Colosseum because they shout to be in a playground or in a fucking TikTok studio, not a city with its traffic lights, its pedestrian crossings, its carriageways and its people that need to arrive in time at work…

  8. I believe tourists upon arrival.should get a memo with fines and punishements for destroying cultural heritage.

  9. Looks like the tourists have mastered the art of self-guided sewer tours! Bravo!

  10. The penalties should be higher and maybe some jail time. Enough to discourage anyone one else to not do it. And my other question is why do it. How would they feel if people visiting their country defaced their national treasures? Can you walk in and throw paint at any painting at the Smithsonian? Can you carve your name on the Lincoln Memorial? Or glue yourself at the Whitehouse ? Or paint all over the Sidney Opera house. No, they couldn’t because they would be ashamed and arrested within seconds. So why do that somewhere you are visiting? Hold them until they can pay the fines. Maybe they can understand this is unacceptable.

  11. As an American tourist who visited Italy a few years ago, I find this kind of behavior disgusting. Some people have little regard or respect for others when visiting other places.

  12. The same in Prague. Drunk redneck Brits loudly announcing their good manners, clueless crowds just dropping in front of cars, bikes and trams out of sidewalks while hunting for the best selfie. Drunk driving on electric scooters. Families trying to pry open the subway train doors because they cannot wait for 120 seconds for the next one.
