I promised an update on Zoya and here it is! Zoya left a town near the front line and is now at a care home in Poland. This is an update on her journey and what it takes to help someone leave the front line and get to safety. If you want to support other people like Zoya, go to sp4ukraine.org

  1. Zoya is 84 and from a town near the front line in Eastern Ukraine. She has endured the entire war but has now made it to Poland and is living in a care home.

A lot of people ask why people living near the front don’t just leave. It’s hard to leave. This is what it took to help Zoya leave.

Zoya was picked up by some of our volunteers who work with our medical clinic and transported by 4×4 to Kramatorsk. Zoya then traveled by train with one of our volunteers, Mo. Mo also arranged for her to get some new clothing and necessities for the journey. They met with the bank to ensure that Zoya could receive her pension while in Poland. Then they traveled to Poland and Zoya is now at her care home.

Most people living near the front line who have not left are older people. It is not easy to leave their homes and go somewhere new. A journey that far is overwhelming physically, mentally, and emotionally. They require assistance to go.

That assistance is also not cheap. Our 4×4 is always on rough roads and it now needs a $600 repair. We also pay for train tickets for people we assist as well as our volunteers who are accompanying them.

If you are donating to us, this is what your donations enable us to do 🙂 Without donors, we could not help people like Zoya get to the new stage of their lives.

  2. Thank you for the update. My heart is so heavy thinking of all the elderly Ukrainian people who are experiencing such upheaval. I hope Zoya will find a measure of peace!

  3. You are one beautiful silk thread in an evolving woven garment of unbelievable humanity and kindness being placed over the Ukrainians’ shoulders right now. Awesome work. Thank you.

  4. Wow she can read the form without glasses at her age? I know many elderly people still have good vision but I’m just impressed to see it because both of my late maternal grandparents needed glasses to read by the time they reach 70 years old.

Sending Madam Zoya much love and well wishes. May she be blessed with peace and good health ❤️

  5. Ahhh I’ve met Mo before. Lovely lady. Nice to see her pop up on here

  6. Tears in my eyes. So beautiful and sad at the same time. ♥️

  7. Thanks for the update. Hope Zoya settles in and finds peace.
