While agreeing with the sentiment on this sub, which is viewing Plywood Poles as silly, I certainly think that you can become a Pole; living here and knowing a language are certainly the big steps towards it. Sadly, lot of these Americans do not know the language and do not intend to master it, which raises a big goddamn wall between them and collective polish psyche.
