the entirety of Pianura Padana, the largest plain in Italy, has been underwater for most of the time and even as soon as 20M years ago, In certain areas it’s not difficult to find fossils even hundreds of kilometers from the coast, I once lived in a place where they found the skeleton of a whale in the hills.
