   One will kill or maim you with someone trying to take care of where it will be.

   The other will kill, maim or rape you with orders to do so from command?

   Yeah I prefer the clusters.

4. According to human rights watch the current stockpile of US cluster munitions is about 5.5 million. That’s a whole lot of fucked up trenches and treelines.

8. NATO has played Putin like a fiddle by iteratively providing Ukraine better weaponry over the past ~18 months.

10. Human rights groups say they pose a threat to civilians, but have they considered the net reduction in threat to them by removing the Russians? I think they’d end up agreeing it’s a net win.

    Also JFC there are probably millions of UXOs in Ukraine by now anyway, it’s not as if they are going to be using them on virtually untouched villages.

12. Cluster Munitions is a wide variety of weapons, it’s not clear what they are sending. Both sides are already mining whatever they can defensively and opportunistically. Unlike offensives sited many times, Ukraine is on the ground … its their ground … this isn’t the US cluster bombing the Russians on Ukrainian soil or Iraqi positions with no soldiers on the ground.

    Some of the weapons degrade “bio degrade” rapidly, though it’s not clear what is being sent. Many of the EU/NATO countries are signatories, it may be that they are sending compatible munitions. In the end Ukraine wants them, it’s their choice. In the highly modern conflict that is this war, it may be very useful for mapping and cleanup.

    Go the extra mile and add in longer range delivery while you’re at it. Put my tax money to the best military use in my lifetime.

15. I’m sure that Ukraine has already a lot of these toys. These announcements are just a greenlight for Ukraine to use them.
