  1. This whole situation sums up the rich pretty well, absolute scumbag took advantage in a pandemic and made his money, fuck everyone else.

  2. Seems like a fuck up by the HSE. It’s not up to the guy selling to see its suitable for use for the company who is buying. That’s their job.

  3. This could be as easy as “not registered, but perfectly safe/useable” (like, registered and able to be sold in the UK but not registered in Ireland).
…and as shady as “never sold in the EU”.

I can understand ordering a lot based on the specifications/composition, especially during the sudden global surge in demand. But not getting it registered, or it failing registration is a big oof.

  4. The incompetence of the HSE summed up in a headline

    Zero due diligence

Didn’t they fuck up a protective clothing order too?

  5. “This is an emergency, ignore the usual procurement rules we don’t have time for that”.

    Later:

“I can’t believe that abandoning the usual procurement rules resulted in exactly the failures that they are meant to protect against”

  6. I love how the Ditch always has a new way to use their green line.

  7. Looks like a fish trying to chomp on someone’s mickey

  8. Let us not forget that scuttering rat ‘hiding’ in Malta, with €11m in total. Robert Quirke, and tried to blag more bullshit in South Africa.

    > Mr Quirke, who at the time had been working in the Middle East for several years running music festivals in countries such as Saudi Arabia

Even that part is bullshit. He never ‘ran’ any music festivals.
    Some balls on him though.

  9. This reminds me of the time Polish national healthcare bought respirators from a weapon dealer during covid, which were all broken and he disappeared with millions in his pocket.
