UCL becomes first university to formally cut ties with Stonewall

  1. I support gay people but I am left somewhat confused when the head of Stonewall says this:

    > Nobody should ever be pressured into dating, or pressured into dating people they aren’t attracted to. But if you find that when dating, you are writing off entire groups of people, like people of colour, fat people, disabled people or trans people, then it’s worth considering how societal prejudices may have shaped your attractions.

I thought the cornerstone of gay rights was that ‘attractions’ are natural and beyond our control or shaping. Presumably it would have made life easier if gay men could ‘consider’ why they didn’t like women?

  2. Good. Stonewall are essentially a protection racket at this point. They’re completely out of control and would be losing money year on year if the government weren’t propping them up.

Edit: Not responding to dumb replies, I know your game and I’m not playing

  3. Given the University saw fit to still be hosting eugenics conferences *2018* and has a storied history of celebrating eugenicists promoting eugenics, if anywhere could do with a little Stonewall in its life it’s probably UCL.

“In 2018 it emerged that an honorary lecturer at the university had been secretly hosting a private conference on eugenics with speakers including white supremacists.”

  4. Just because they are dropping Stonewall and ending their commitment to a entirely commercial programme that businesses and authorities can join for help and advice etc.

This programme is seperate to othet things they do, and you pay thousands for access to advice, information and rescources.

It does not mean they going to burn gays at stake instead…

Where i work cut ties with them. They are looking for a new partner orgonistition, theirs multiple. Stonewall is far from only one Nowdays.. No one stopped supporting people’s rights, just stopped paying an charity’s commercial arm.

Theirs others whom provide advice, support and information for large organisations.
