Post-Brexit trade deal with Australia will cause £94m blow to UK agriculture, government admits

  1. Let’s not fill this with they’re getting what they deserve because not all farmers voted to leave. It was polled that between 36 and 56% did. That’s still a huge amount who didn’t want this and are getting screwed

  2. I don’t like this deal and this is why.

But it’s a bit much for remainers to make a big deal out of this when they supported us being in a much more comprehensive competitive trade deal (the EU itself) with countries who can outcompete our agricultural producers. Exactly the same arguments as to why it’s bad to have tariff free Aussie beef apply to tariff free Danish bacon or French veal.

  3. Nobody is getting what they deserve, because nobody deserves this. Nobody deserves to have their livelihood threatened, to be worried about how they’ll pay bills, or feed their families. Whether you voted for it or not, it’s a shite outcome and throwing blame around isn’t going to change anything. Except for the lying politicians who knew they were lying to people who mistakenly thought they had their best interests at heart. Be bloody nice to stop seeing everyone turning on one another, and instead come to the conclusion that we are all in this together.

  4. What with this the loss on the Norway fishing deal, the biden snubs the uk trade deal prospect.

Im honestly starting to think this brexit thing wasn’t what they were all expecting

  5. I’ve just read a post concerning the troubles with fishing that are developing, and now agriculture. Two big things that promised everything you could imagine in Brexit Britain, and predictably, is turning out to all be complete lies.

The amount of people that were taken up by manipulation and social engineering on such a scale and with such economic impacts must be some kind of record.

I don’t blame anyone that fell for it, honestly. Having some background in cybersecurity, I am more than aware of how damn effective social engineering is…and when you’ve got a massive amount of funding driving that social engineering, well, this is what you get
