Hello everyone. I would like to ask for your suggestion. I have bought an article from [www.kleinanzeigen.de](https://www.kleinanzeigen.de) on July 04.

The seller wanted to be paid either via Paypal or IBAN. I paid him through IBAN. After the payment, I haven’t heard back about him since. I sent messages asking if he has the Postal tracking number but I remain unanswered.

His seller profile has the “Besonders Zuverlassig” and “Top Freundlich” rating on Kleinanzeigen and that made me confident in the beginning. I am now a bit stressed. The information about him is his full name and his Bank account details (Sparkasse IBAN). I tried to search him on Google and I am very confident that I found his small company and linkedin profile but his phone number published online is unreachable. Should I contact his bank or should I directly report a complaint online at the police?

Or should I just wait longer for a whole week before filing a complaint?

Thank you very much for your replies and I hope that someone can help me out about this.

  1. Most likely a scam and the IBAN is from an other scammed person. You should report it to the police, but don’t hope to get any money back.

  2. This sub keeps repeating the mantra of never buying/selling anything on Kleinanzeigen if the sale takes in person. That is unless you are fine with potentially losing your money. Happens all the time with hacked Kleinanzeigen accounts or just accounts selling a lot of cheaper items to generate positive ratings and scam others later.
It’s still possible that you’ll recieve your items. But if that isn’t the case, report the account to Kleinanzeigen and file a police report. The bank won’t give you your money back though. Once they recieved the money there is no legal grounds for them to send it back to you.
