To put it bluntly, Biden is being a pussy. Sanctions could be worse, weapons could be better. He has bipartisan support in Congress and still slow plays the aid
If they want to see it slowly, welcome to Ukraine. Take your army, come to Ukraine and fight russians yourself in any way that you want.
I agree. Let’s get those cluster munitions into good hands and start training f16 pilots as quickly as possible.
Well I’ve got blue balls for Putin getting Gaddafied on his ooh la la fancy dinner table live on Ukrainian tv.
Peter zeihan makes a video talking about they are doing this to prevent nuclear war. Slowly Ruzzia realizes it’s losing and accepts defeat little by little. 3 days first next year. 2 years. 5 years. They are using this war to decimate Ruzzia.
The West is afraid of escalating the conflict, so they are bing slow… but by not escalating, you are allowing russia to do whatever it wants and for them to escalate.
For such shitholes as russia and china… ESCALATING IS THE WAY TO DE-ESCALATE!!!
I will point out that though the price is extremely high it is not **Too high.** That would indicate that a change of course was needed. What is needed is the West to step up both the types and speed of delivery of Western weapons to speed the end of the war and reduce this terrible price.
In fairness, I can understand the strategy of Western nations – incrementally increasing support for Ukraine in a way that isolates Russia and keeps Russians indifferent to the war.
Keeping China out of the war was a key aim I think for Washington. Support in Western nations I also think is dependent on Ukraine being the victim, not the aggressor.
If Ukraine had got more significant support early on and hit back at the territory of Russia in a major way, then many in the west might have seen it as a war that didn’t have a ‘good guy’
Part of the slowness of aid is down to the time it takes for politicians to make decisions, and part of it, at least in Europe, is down to a shortage of available, functional military equipment.
But I agree that for Ukraine, this has led to many deaths and hardships. It’s easier for me, I think, removed from the war as I am to see why the pace of aid has been ‘slow’.
If I were Ukranian, I would be mad as hell.
I prefer they be destroyed fast.
I get it, but there’s no way to “quickly” destroy the kremlin without it leading to much greater fallout for the world at large.
I think everyone understands why Ukraine needs all the help that can be given, but we all have to understand as well that this conflict has the potential to drastically affect the entire world if the thin line is not walked wisely. It’s the concept of “your quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little and it will fall, to the ruin of all.” If saving “10k lives here” ultimately costs “100k lives over there,” that paints things in a different light.
There’s no answer that pleases “everyone.” The solution is currently to give Ukraine “just enough” to soundly defeat Russia on their own. For better or for worse, that’s been the story since day one.
And at the end of the day, this will let us all agree that UKRAINE defeated Russia. Not NATO. Not the EU. Ukraine did it.
As far as the kremlin goes, they need to be allowed and encouraged to destroy themselves from the inside, and that cannot be done quickly.
Here’s the thing: Whomever replaces a deposed Putin is likely to be worse and decimating Russia quickly will throw it into a state of almost instant revolution. You do not want the nation with the most nuclear weapons to lose control of said nukes due to a revolutionary shit show.
And sadly isn’t that the world of politics and warfare. Hoping this war comes to an end sooner than later. Give UA whatever they need!
As someone who dislikes wars of aggression. I do think the US, EU, NATO…. The west should immediately and unequivocally condemned Russia and given them 24 hours to withdraw from Ukrainian territory. Failure to withdraw would result in US, EU, NATO joining the war on Ukraines side and the return of St. Petersburg to Finland as punishment.
“We’re just giving them some weapons, that’s all.”
