My parents’ neighbours are from Romania and gifted this to them, just said it was alcohol. We have found little information available in English.

What exactly is this? Do we drink it straight or mix it with something? Any help is appreciated!

  1. O mizerie secuiasca. Recomand sa o arunci. Dacă nu, o bei din pahare mici, după gust.

  2. Caraway spirit. something like an aquavit. Popular with the ethnic hungarian minority but drank in the transylvanian region in general.

this brand is not the highest of quality but you can generaly have it like a shot of vodka. i dont think it will mix that well

if you really want it as a mix just google aquavit cocktails or something like that.

  3. do yourself a favor and get a plumb brandy from romania correctly executed, this stuff is not ce trebuie

  4. That’s not something you would drink on special occasions. It doesn’t look like our most prized “spiritus”. It’s not our good tuica or palinca. This stuff doesn’t look the part.

I can’t even say if that’s any good tbh. It’s most definetrly just a neighborly gesture.

But what a morning person you are! It’s 6:30 in Scotland, my dude. Get some sleep haha.

  5. Chimion secuiesc. Drink it straight. If you like it, then you can make your own: prepare cumin tea (boil water with cumin), add sugar and alchool.

  6. It’s a Hungarian (Szekely) thing. Most likely from Miercurea Ciuc. I have no idea what it is but most probably palinka. Drink it carefully because it’s very strong. In case it is what I think it is. 🤷‍♀️🙂

Edit: Looks like it’s only 30°. It’s fine. Most of these came in 50° and even more.
