This is by far the best frozen pizza I’ve ever had:

https://www.dunnesstoresgrocery.com/sm/delivery/rsid/258/product/dunnes-stores-simply-better-italian-margherita-pizza-440g-100279002

I had one last night. Tonnes of cheese, crispy yet fluffy crust, tangy sauce. It’s nearly perfect. Better than most fresh pizzas I’ve had here. And the best part is that according to the nutritional information, the whole pizza is only 660 calories and has 32 grams of protein.

But this is the problem. There’s no way a pizza that size and that high quality could be so low in calories, right? A whole Dr. Oetker mozzarella pizza is almost 900 calories, is significantly smaller, thinner, and has less cheese. And is far worse quality.

Does anyone have experience with this pizza? Does anyone know a food scientist at Dunnes? Could this calorie count possibly be true or is something more sinister going on? I will not stop following this thread until I have answers.

Edit: this reads like I’m a shill for Dunnes. I am no such thing and I have the documents to prove it. I am merely a pizza fan and concerned citizen.

  1. Did you check the portion size. It’s probably only half the pizza

  2. 1g of Carb or protein is 4kCals . 1g fat is 9 kCals. It’s not possible got tis pizza to be 660 kCals based on its weight.

  3. The multiple is a bit off, but 440g/198g*328kcal => 729kcal.

    I guess some weight might be lost in cooking, but that seems more likely to me.

  4. Is the nutritional info on the box the same as on the website? I don’t usually shop in Dunnes, but am now tempted to go in and buy some of this magic pizza.
