Controversial I know, but if there are stockpiles, Russia is already using them, Ukraine actively needs/wants them and they’ll be used on their own territory then give them hell.
It seems pretty clear that the Russians pose a much bigger threat to civilians than unexploded munitions may do after the war.
It’s distasteful, but it’s also Ukraine’s decision: it may bite them after the war in terms of civilian casualties, but if they don’t throw everything they’ve got at Russia *right now*, that problem will be entirely moot.
Besides, there are reports Russia is using chemical weapons and they definitely used their thermobarics at least once in 2021. I’m not concerned with the morality of using these munitions on them at all. Civilians after the fact? Different story.
I suppose it’s good enough to discourage. Cluster munitions are really fucked up
