The Dutch coalition government collapsed yesterday. Elections are expected in November. This is the latest average polling seat count (majority 76).

  1. Pretty amazing how they went through having their farms threatened to be taken away to absolutely smashing it in the polls. It’s almost as if actions have consequences?

  2. VVD, CDA, D66 and CU are the old coalition parties. VVD is Mark Rutte’s party. CDA are like the CDU in Germany. D66 is a left leaning liberal party. CU is an left leaning Christian party.

    European Union political groups:

    RE: VVD, D66

    EPP: CDA, CU, 50+

    ID: PVV

    ECR: JA21, SGP

    S&D: PVDA

    Greens: GL, VOLT

    LEFT: SP, PVDD

DENK, BBB, Bij1 and FVD don’t have a European political group (yet).

    BBB: likely EPP or ECR

    Bij1: likely LEFT

    DENK: likely LEFT

    FVD: likely ID.

GL and PVDA are likely to run on a joint list next election.

  3. We really need to get a threshold for parties to enter the senate.

I hate this system that gives us 20 different parties.

And to be clear i don’t want to see a system where we only have 2 parties but having a maximum of 5/6 parties is more than enough in my opinion.

Left – Centre left – Centrist – Centre Right – Right

When i go to vote and have to unfold my ballot like a treasure map you probably have a few to many options.

  4. What are the chances of Rutte becoming PM again with some sort of coalition after the Nov elections ?
