  1. There is no special relationship. Never has been.

It’s just been outwardly clear lately because our recent crop of politicians have been even more dire than usual, and Biden clearly doesn’t particularly like the British either.

  2. >What seems to irk some British political leaders is that the US is treating the UK as it treats its other major allies in Europe. They don’t feel anything “special” about it.

    Welcome to the club

  3. A lot of this has to do with Brexit. The Brits wanted to pivot to a much closer economic ties with the US, but so far that hasn’t happened, as the US has focused on ties with nations who are better placed to become emerging consumers with younger populations.

The US isn’t willing to antagonize Europe over putting a Brit in charge of NATO after Brexit either, and long run the EU is far more important in diplomacy, defense, and trade than the UK.

Despite this, the Atlantic Declaration means meaningful long term cooperation, and the British PM still has better access to Biden then most world leaders, having met with him more than almost anyone else.

  4. What special relationship U.K. does as it is told or else. The Americans are frightened shitless about a United Europe. They have had a big hand in breaking U.K. with Brexit the shits Johnson and Farage are still counting dollars.
