Why is this even a topic yet? The NATO articles specifically disallow new members that are either in an active war or have unresolved border disputes (so membership wouldn’t be allowed since the 2014 crimea annexation)
Or are they already preemptively blocking membership for post-war Ukraine? That seems quite hasty since we have no clue yet what the world will look like then.
The only real reason I can imagine here is giving the Kremlin some false hope that peace negotiations don’t block them from attacking Ukraine in the future (wich in turn with disincentives Ukraine from being interested in that peace)
