  1. I noticed from the articles over the weekend that Bakhurst briefed Catherine Martin over the weekend. Catherine Martin in turn seems to have briefed the rest of the Government.

And then one person from RTE jumped before they were pushed. And it just happens to be the brother of someone who found out the plan.

  2. Good, either they were corrupt, or just incompetent.

Either way they should be out on their asses.

Now let’s just hope these clowns don’t get re-hired once the heat dies down.

  3. Solid first move and a necessary one if he is to have any chance of salvaging RTE from this mess.

In any case, RTE will need to reduce its bloated payroll expenditure. Based on figures available, personal related operating costs were €177m in 2021 against a revenue of €344m.
In other words, 50% of RTE income is spent on employee salaries and benefits. It is a clear indicator of how mismanaged the organization has been over the years and why it require serious restructuring.

  4. Should all be shunned from Irish society crying about the “impact on their mental health”

Dee forces and the commercial director used the mental health card

Disgusting. Caught out and then hide behind mental health does a disservice to the true suffers of poor mental health

    Piss on them all

  5. The coveneys are so fucking sure of themselves. €2 million spaffed on the Late Late production is a sleazy way of turning a stroke. Couldn’t help himself.

The late late show brand has been torched by the board.

They last thing to make any sort of decent revenue outside of the license fee was shakedown.

  6. This was always the only viable option to keep staff, the public and the government on-side and to ensure his leadership has the possibility to succeed. Good move.

Tubridy will be the next one to go once he’s done his Oireachtas performance to try to save a shred of his reputation.
