India should really stop its completely illogical procurement strategy and build a domestic MIC with help of France. This would mean putting an end to shopping around and placing large orders with the French MIC.
1. Replace all aircraft in Indian Air Force with just 2 types a) Rafael b) Tejas.
2. Replace the assortment of attack submarines with one type each of SSN and SSBN, on the lines of AU-FR deal.
3. Co-develop a successor to the M88, and a new hypersonic missile.
4. Invest in shared defense research pipeline.
Hope to see some steps in this direction during Modi’s upcoming visit, and a deeper relationship between France and the Indian Navy, they are much more logical and quick when compared with the incompetent Air Force and oversized Army.
