  1. This is why I call the war a double genocide. This is blatant targetting of minorities. It’s all pointless too. The War’s not going to be saved for Russia by dragging some poor construction workers into it.

  2. If the war is so popular and Russia’s fighting age population is so huge, then why would they have to have to do this? People keep waiting for Russia to swarm with its legions like the Soviets in WW2, but it clearly won’t happen any time soon.

  3. When well off muscovites get drafted then the war will end. Whilst there are those from poorer areas of the RF able to be sent to slaughter to avoid muscovites having to deal with the reality of what they support bodies will still be sent to Ukraine.

One way of exterminating the unwanted /disaffected /second class citizens of the RF.

  4. But mommy Zakharova said that rf is one giant happy family of nations being treated equally with respect ^(as long as they are all a russified forfeiting their cultural background altogether being the silent part). How dare the bigoted pope imply otherwise ^(/s)

  5. Muscovites in official communication – what a twist! Kudos to UK.

  6. Ukraine is fighting Moscow not Russia. Most of Russia are just enslaved nations. Russia is not a republic, it is an empire. Empire that enslaves nations and uses them to take more territories purely at the cost of these enslaved nations. This war is excellent proof of that. It is cancer. It must be torn apart. We must help Ukraine until they are free of this monster. Ukraine must join NATO ASAP to ensure peace under the umbrella of democracy.
    Slava Ukraini.

  7. One of the biggest things that has bothered me about this war is that Putin is using it to essentially dispose of (fast becoming completely useless) legacy equipment and strip minority populations of their military aged men right at a time of historically low birth-rates for ethnic Russians. It’s the kind of calculus that a man who has little regard for human life would make.

This is a war of elderly kleptocrats expending their youth with the equipment they had wasting away in Siberia, on a dream of stealing the riches of Ukraine because what they had in Russia wasn’t quite enough treasure for those greedy old men. Unfortunately for them their own corruption and thievery stole away much of the capability they fooled the world into believing they had; thank god they are so stupid.

  8. Russians aren’t interested in politics… But a free train ride overseas!

  9. “Russia” is indeed ***Muscovia*** or the Mongolesque Duchy of ***Muscovy*** given how >99% of a landmass stretching over 11 time zones (!) still exists only to serve the tastes and whims of privileged Muscovites.

It’s a medieval-grade caste-society of 140 million+ crabs in the world’s largest bucket in which one’s caste is defined by the geographical accident in living in Moscow or not, or by the social accident in having connections with the “right” Muscovites or not .

The Tatar journalist, Kamil Galeev, [described a year ago how much of leeches and sources of misery the obscenely entitled residents of Moscow have been](https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1553772635741372417.html).

    >*Russia is not a “nation”. It’s the last colonial empire. Its metropole is localised in the Furstenstadt of Moscow.* ***It is the northernmost megapolis of the world, located furthest from the waterways and on the infertile soil. It is too expensive to feed***
    >
    >*In such a centralised empire as Russia, opinion of Muscovites is of critical importance to Kremlin. They invest every effort and resource so that Moscow wouldn’t feel any discomfort at all.* ***The rest of empire will be sucked dry for the benefit of Moscow***
    >
    >***Even the most productive regions are sucked dry to feed Moscow. So Moscow can use them again as the cannon fodder suppliers.*** *Go through all the adverts with “short term army contracts” and you’ll notice they focus on material benefits. 200 000 a month, zero ideology. Money talks*
    >
    >*Still that doesn’t explain all the casualty asymmetry. Yes, it’s very much easier to lure the destitute provincials than Muscovites with the few thousand bucks. Still, even in the peace time Moscow had tons of military and paramilitary quartered there. Why no casualties then?*
    >
    >*Most probably, because Siloviki from Moscow are spared from the war. If Moscow suffer almost zero casualties, it means they’re probably in the most privilege position in Russia. They’re not sent to the frontline*
    >
    >[…]
    >
    >*Russia is not a nation. It is the empire with a metropoly – the Fürstenstadt of Moscow.* ***Moscow is too expensive to feed, so its massive colonial empire is being sucked dry.*** *Which gives an additional perk: since they’re so destitute, you can buy cannon fodder from there cheaply*
    >
    >*There’s nothing unusual about it. It’s a typical behaviour of a colonial empire, British did the same*
    >
    >[…]
    >
    >*What is peculiar about Russia is not that its practices are unprecedentedly evil or hideous. They very much remind of what Western powers did with their colonies.* ***It is that Russia is the last European colonial empire that still exists.*** *The end*

    (N.B. bolding by me)

  10. Dagestani’s have been utmost supportive of Putin since the 2nd Chechnya War. They are probably honoured to die for him

  11. I think this strategy will likely come to cause big problems for them when they, ultimately, lose the war ..
