Hello!

I saw that post about that person getting fined for burning a red light while on an escooter while on the sidewalk. Except there’s a lot of things bothering me about this and I have no idea who to ask about this. *If you know who I can ask just tell me, otherwise I’m just asking the questions here…*

1. When the cycle path is separated from the road, so well that the traffic light for cars is to your *left*… Do you still have to follow it? Do you follow the pedestrian crossing light from the pedestrian crossing right next to the cycle crossing? [Example situation](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4531121,3.9688655,3a,25y,302.96h,85.83t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s-CKfCY9sxKs489r6YRNWWQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu)

1a. What defines a cycle path separated from the road? Could you drive on the left side of the road if it is separated [by a continuous line](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.451178,3.9564006,3a,75y,18.22h,82.97t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sls5xx-ikojXw7-rCjwHDBg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) / [by a simple border](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4380404,3.9277882,3a,75y,257.27h,68.89t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1scRknvTVuHGZh3Ffg4_1YEg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) / [by a bus lane](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4559303,3.9610001,3a,75y,27.33h,68.86t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sJl2GhR5C-zyPUXHv4zChjg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) / [by a hedge](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4536305,3.9630638,3a,75y,80.79h,83.32t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sRJEIkgXqgiR-EfntEXpYRg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) / [by a wall](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4616604,3.9471955,3a,75y,71.1h,75.41t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s-AYFtnI9Az71kZKpwrVlsA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) ?

2. What defines a sidewalk?

2a. If I am on an official cycle path (striped line, 1.5m stripe length), which is drawn on what looks like a sidewalk, and these lines end. Am I allowed to continue, or am I supposed to find a way to merge with the road? [Example situation](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4604089,3.9455856,3a,75y,132.9h,78.77t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sOokrK4F2tmeqIncoBbnRXA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu)

2b. If I see a random sidewalk without markings but there’s a D7/D9/D10 sign, I guess I am obligated to drive there. When does the obligation end? [Example situation](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4510045,3.9352572,3a,50.5y,140.13h,84.31t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sdbGd_02A8g9d6PKOOhLaCA!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3DdbGd_02A8g9d6PKOOhLaCA%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D100.51042%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) [Another one](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4581354,3.9606539,3a,49.3y,24.68h,82.19t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sOxO676K3gLwlfqUWq2JxpA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu)

2c. If there are ground markings on a sidewalk but no obligation sign, am I even allowed to be there or should I use the road? [Example situation](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4600516,3.9599603,3a,50.1y,306.28h,84.25t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s7yNgJqTqvGbn2gkB-aTZOA!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu)

2d. If there are cycle crossings or cycle paths (mandatory to use) but they start and end on sidewalks (forbidden to use), then should I need to swerve left and right to take them but stay on the road at the last moment? [Example situation](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.4449519,3.9474278,3a,75y,270.14h,71.93t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1srU5VWg9Y1-ABkSMmSlcrSw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu)

If you only know for some cases, it’d already help. And of course, if you know somebody official I could ask, I’d also appreciate it a lot. I couldn’t find readable answers using Google, only just a bunch of *arrêts royaux* and that stuff. A readable website could help too…

Thank you in advance!
