In Switzerland, chestnuts (affectionately called “heissi Maroni”) are definitely an autumn treat. Is it a thing in your place, too?

Lots of those in Spain during winter time.
Delicious!!!!
In portugal yeah! Specially near train stations there are always people roasting them
Austria too, and also called Maroni.
These look amazing, sadly they would kill me if I ate them, but I am still very jealous.
Chestnuts are delicious and they are eaten here but I always miss out on them. You can get them in London with caramel, sugar etc.
It’s very difficult to grow chestnuts here. I tried for many years but they just wouldn’t take. Now I order the nuts from an online place. They are expensive, but I consider it a once a year treat. So good!
“Caldarroste”, eat half kg yesterday, my intestine are insulting me a lot but they are too good to skip
Maroni in Croatia too!
Not at all in Norway
Personally I don’t like them very much.
However recently my uncle sent me some pictures from a chestnut tree that he has in his garden in Thailand. I didn’t know that this is a thing…
It’s a different kind that we have here but also edible and according to him delicious. He said that they’re more “comfortable” than the ones we have in Europe because the shells come off easier.
Autumn ain’t autumn with them in Portugal
Wait, you can EAT THEM?!
Yes, eaten in hungary too!
They are here in Austria
Yeah, but they are mostly late autumn/early winter.
