Those bonfires in general are fuel for hate crimes. Disgusting that it happens on this island at all in this day and age. They’re not only sectarian, they’re overtly racist and homophobic quite often too.
They know nothing else.
The 12th is a hate fest. The tricolour is burnt on a lot of bonfires. Can you imagine the torrent of condemnation from establishment Ireland if the British flag was burned on the same scale here? The double standards are revealing. And the generally broadcast solution to the hate fest: change the tricolour and make the 12th a public holiday and respect the culture.
We need to take a look at ourselves.
As they should. Although given the Orangemen (only the ones that we know of) that infest their ranks, this investigation is tainted from the start.
It’s obviously a hate crime, that’s an open and shut case.
It’ll be harder to figure out who put the effigy up so it’s time to start going after the organizers, as ultimately they’re responsible and they can be traced through funding.
