  1. RECIPE!

    **Norwegian apple cake**

3-4 Norwegian apples, preferably the sour kind

    3 eggs

    2.5 dl sugar

    150 g butter

    1 dl milk

    3 dl flour

    2 ts baking powder

Cinnamon + sugar for sprinkling on top

    1. Warm oven to 200 C. Prepare a round cake form (24 cm).
    2. Peel the apple and slice them in thin boats. Put them in a bowl of water nd some lemon juice to keep the apple slices from browning.
    3. Beat the eggs and sugar into a thick mixture. (The mixture will be whitish when ready.)
    4. Melt the butter in a small casserole/pot and add the milk. Mix slowly into the egg and sugar mixture.
    5. Sift flour and baking powder into the wet mixture, and mix carefully.
    6. Put the batter into the cake form.
    7. Dry the apple slices with paper towels and put the boats into the top of the cake, as packed in as possible.
    8. Sprinkle a good amount of cinnamon and sugar on top.
    9. Bake the cake in the next lowest shelf in the oven for ca. 40 minutes. Be sure to test that the cake is baked all the way through before taking it out of the oven.

Serve with vanilla sauce/custard or vanilla ice cream.

  2. Why not.. Well, because baked apples are garbage.. Apples in general are horse food and should remain that way. I am more partial to pears, myself.

  3. people asking for the recipe are one thing but I wish there was an apple sommelier type who would tell me about Norwegian apples… they sound delicious but I would love if someone could recomend a youtube channel about apple flavours by country like a wine somm could tell me about pinot noir by country

  4. Mmmmmmmmm! I have tasted my Norwegian SIL’s cakes. You guys can BAKE <3

  5. Ohhh man, a slice of this plus a cup of tea in front of the fireplace = paradise
