I wish I could say I was surprised
Benieuwd naar de motivatie van de rechter die deze beslissing heeft genomen. Als de dader al “bekend is om meerdere geweldfeiten” dan lijkt het goed me dat we de maatschappij beter mogen beschermen door zulk geweldadig individu toch even op te sluiten. Al was het maar als signaal naar de politie, 3 zwaargewond is niet niks…

This is just hopeless/disgusting. How long has this police violence been going on, honestly? Every few months this comes in the news and everytime it’s the same;
– police syndicates demanding proper punishment, swift & harsh punishment
– minister(s) saying ‘this is an absolute priority’, condemning the actions and promising improvement
– the perpetrator coming off lightly because some bullshit reason
and the cycle continues…. 100% sure this’ll happen again in the coming months. Sickening
I’m loving the reddit experts who obviously have a master in law and criminology. They of course know better than the judge who’s job it is to deal with cases like this.
In America, they’d have shot him, luckily we live in Belgium.
I think most of these types of guys would much rather spend a few months or years in prison than elektronisch toezicht. If men like this were super into reading and they could keep themselves busy doing diamond painting or baking cakes at home on a Friday night they wouldn’t be in trouble.

I read somewhere a comment that by the time he would get a proper trial, he would cost the taxpayers over €10k, so they decided to let him out. Absolutely insane.
