  1. Dublin is a coastal city with a brilliant sea view in coastal suburbs, but to locals and tourists in the city center it may as well be in the midlands. Due to the location of Dublin Port, the city feels disconnected from the sea even though it is a major feature of Dublin’s cityscape from above. This picture (made using AI) is a concept for how the land currently occupied by the port could be redeveloped into a residential, touristic and financial hub if the port was moved to another location.

  2. All well and good but what do you do with all locals?

  3. They said the same when they built the boardwalk and look how that turned out.

  4. It’s an interesting idea, particularly the green space. There was an idea floated and costed a few years ago to move the port to a new purpose-built location, but Dublin Port company aren’t fond of the idea.

The city could be so much more than it is.

  5. Firstly get rid of the cruise ship.

They bring essentially little to no economic help, and just a load of environmental damage.

  6. Not a hope in hell would they ever build it. Give funds and the capability to even build this, the Irish government wouldn’t be able to get half of that done in 60 years. That’s even being optimistic about it.

  7. But a Viking took a dump on that spot 1200 years ago. It must be preserved for the good of humanity.

  8. What about investing in other parts of the country instead of this multi billion euro venture in the port of Dublin eh?

  9. Those buildings are over 4 stories tall! What kind of madness and witchcraft is this.
