  1. Met with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte

. I am grateful for the leadership of the Netherlands in the adoption of key decisions by allies in support of Ukraine, in particular regarding the creation of an aviation coalition. We agreed on the start of a training mission for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft in August this year. They discussed the prospects of attracting new partners to the fighter coalition and strengthening Ukrainian air defense. Thank you, Netherlands!

  7. **What I’m going to say is by no way official info. It’s what I have gathered from the available public information.**

There are portuguese commentators that know important things about this war as they’re well connected on national TV twice a week (public approved info). They sometimes say stupid things but overall, they are on the ball and they’re pro-Ukraine.

When this aircraft coallition was floated, one of those commentators mentioned that Portugal couldn’t give airplanes (we’re lacking airplanes and the little we have is needed deperately, because the russkies love to congregate on international waters by our maritime border to go spy on underwater cables and smuggle oil) BUT we could train pilots.

He specifically mentioned that Romania switched to F-16s and Portugal FA were the ones that trained them (or a good part of them). Wikipedia mentions that the first batch of F-16s Romania has have been sent by Portugal as well. According to wikipedia as well, the rest of the F-16s were provided by Norway.

According to the news right now, Ukraine is going to be trained in F-16s in Romania and both Portugal and Norway are in this coallition even though (at least Portugal) isn’t sending any (or if we do, we’ll send like one). So what I can gather from all this, is that Ukraine will “inherit” Romania’s F-16 training program in some fashion.

It’s unclear to me who gives the F-16s. Romania does plan on switching from F-16s to F-35s but it will take years, so it’s not like they’ll be donating all of theirs. Or maybe Romania, who is already trained on F-16s and would only need minor training for whatever differences between models of different countries have, will donate all of theirs to preserve a uniform and seamless training for Ukraine and the coallition backfills Romania with theirs. **I cannot say as I have no idea what any of this would entail, nor if the differences between aircrafts from different countries is significant.** However, according to Wikipedia Romania’s F-16 numbers are 17 (PT) + “32” (NO, not all of them have been delivered).
