An alternative would be that 2/3 of Brits attend work social events and 4/5 feel they’re inclusive enough.
There’s nothing wrong with that either. Not everyone is obliged to get on with their co-workers on a social level, nor interact with them on a social level… on the flip side there’s nothing wrong with those who do.
I’ve always loved going out with workmates. It’s funny to see how different everyone is when they get drunk and I think you can still have a good time even if you don’t have much in common. But some people can’t think of anything worse and hate socialising with people outside of their friendship groups. Admittedly, it would be pretty shit if alcohol wasn’t involved.
Full of drunken bores. Imagine giving up your own time for this.
That seems like an incredibly low number.
Only a third of people avoid work social events? Most people don’t find them boring? It’s a minority view to think that they’re a waste of time?
I had no idea the British people loved work social events so much – there’s a very vocal minority who say that they hate them (especially on places like Reddit) so I thought there must have been a lot more people who felt that way!
Some of us just don’t want to mix business with pleasure, in any context.
So an events business has commissioned a poll that “shows” that companies need to hire events business’? Well I never.
I hope the Standard at least charged the company a fee to carry this advert for their services.
If not before I arrive then they definitely are after.
I don’t go to work to make friends. I go only because I get paid, otherwise why the fk would you be there?
My issue is the worker events are always the same, go to some pub and get drunk.
As someone who doesn’t drink, that type of event get very old very fast. I’d much rather do something more active, like mini golf, etc.
It is. I already work with you freaks 5 days a week. I literally can’t believe you want to hang out *more*. Get a fkn life

Interesting headline.
