Mayonnaise or Ketchup dilemma around the world.

  1. It’s when I see that map that I’m reminded we have a huge choice of sauce available in our market.
    Each time I see my American/Canadian colleagues I have to bring big jars of andalouse/Brazil sauce to them. ( and they get nuts when they see our shops )

  2. Are we counting all fritkot special sauces as mayonaisse too? Most of them are Mayo-based anyway. Belgium should be rainbow colored with hundreds of options.

  3. Sauce ? (Yes, pun intended of course)

    France to me is pretty much Evil Ketchup Land, so I don’t take that map as 100% true.

  4. It depends on the fries, for me usually:

    * Friterie/Frietkot: Americaine Chef
    * Restaurant: Mayo
    * Homemade fries at home: Mayo
    * Industrial frozen thin fries at home or fastfood: Ketchup

  5. Vroeger op mijn school (toen de dieren nog spraken) kregen we altijd pickles bij de frieten. En dat was eigenlijk pretty damn good.

  6. I prefer any warm sauce to ketchup or mayonaise. Like archiduc sauce, stoofvleessaus, tomato sauce, the green sauce from paling in ‘t groen, pepper sauce, béarnaise, … I think ketchup is too overpowering and not a fan of any mayonaise to be honest… A good alternative to mayonaise is (full-fat or Greek) yoghurt, especially if you sprinkle the fries with oregano.

  7. It’s weird to be a ketchup lover in here, my friends say its a sauce for children. And people are surprised I eat pasta with ketchup
