    If he not done anything legally wrong then fine, yet I find it hard to accept Britain’s leading newscaster taking over from Dimbleby and announcing Queens Death chatting up just turn 18 year olds. Sending hearts and kisses.

  5. So the Sun ran with a story that has now been found to be total bullshit and Huw edwards who has admitted hes had mental health issues for decades is now in hospital.

    All because the Sun were salivating over a potential scandal that turned out to be utter bullshit.

    What Edwards does in his private life is between him and his family.

    Seems nothing has changed from phonegate and the levison inquiry. Something needs to be done about the Sun and murdoch cunts.

  12. So according to the police there is no evidence of illegal activity, just a man who should know better being stupid in his private life.

    If his wife wants to kick him to the curb then that is entirely her right and understandable, but the last few days are just another classic example of the media and social media running with incomplete “facts”, conjuring up a frenzy of speculation and irrevocably damaging someones reputation and career.

    The Sun in particular should be binned.

  13. There’s something really sad and tragic about this. When you’re in the closest, it is your deepest darkest secret, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this is what contributed to his previous mental health issues. It also explains the aggressive tone of his messages at the threat of being outed. In your mind, it the biggest secret that you almost feel like you have to take to your grave. Something like this happening in your small hometown would be bad enough, but being outed in front of the whole country must really fuck you up. Not saying he’s completely absolved of any responsibility, because he isn’t, but it does explain a lot of his behaviour. Waking up every morning being in denial about who you are for 40+ years, something very heartbreaking about that.

  15. So we know who it is and the police have confirmed that they aren’t taking any further action. So can we now just let the BBC get on with their investigation and leave it, he’s currently in hospital now suffering from severe mental health issues which is not really a surprise when everyone with a fucking phone was jumping to conclusion without knowing fuck all about what happened. Let the investigation go it’s course and get on with your lives.

    But it is utterly vile, inappropriate and dangerous for the Sun to have reported in the manner that they have and i hope there is a serious backlash to them

  26. I’m still confused as to what has actually happened. If the police are saying it’s not a crime and the lawyer of the person is saying it’s overblown then what’s the fuss?

  27. Given that no crime is being investigated I suppose it’s possible his career *as a presenter* might not be 100% over forever but there’s definitely no way he can read the news ever again.

    Pretty sad for everyone concerned, must be really tough for his family this whole thing.

  28. Most of us have known it was Huw for a few days now. Twitter was right for once.
    Its doubtful his carear will recover from this. But I do hope his mental issues can be treated.
    And Id always regarded him as a pretty likable guy. Guess Im not a great judge of people…

    He holds one of the nation’s most noticeable jobs. He is in a position of power and should have known better. Sending weird texts to work colleagues would get you sacked in most industries, he’s been a bit of a fucking idiot hasn’t he.
