Here is a looooong thread of “thank you” statements from Ukrainian officials to allies during all this difficult time. Pity that Mr Wallace didn’t hear it and read about it 🙁

As an Englishman, I’m ashamed of what was said about Ukraine should be more grateful.
Some people should shut the fuck up.
Ukraine deserves everything we can do. They can either say thank you later or not at all, their people are dieing by the thousands.
I say thank you and God bless you Ukraine. Your strength and determination leaves me amazed.
Slava Ukraini 🙏🇺🇦
I normally like Ben Wallace but that was a disgusting thing to say, we should be more grateful to Ukraine
I am thankful for Ukraine
I think people are misreading Wallace’s comment. I think he was talking about comments by Zelenskyy can be taken out of context by the political fringe, because they seem ungrateful on their face and translated. In context they are fine, and he has thanked everyone, but the people Wallace is talking about and the general populace are not going to be reading them in context. They can be used to attack Zelenskyy.
It’s constructive advice, being defensive about it is not going to help.
Not Ben Wallace’s finest hour. I think he was mainly asking folks to be extra nice to the Yanks who do like to be thanked a lot. In Britain, we’re pleased if we don’t get null points in Eurovision. If we’re not hated and despised by the rest of Europe, we’re usually happy and surprised! : )

“Sometimes you are asking countries to give up their own stocks [of weapons],” Wallace said. “Sometimes you have to persuade lawmakers on the [Capitol] Hill in America.”
The US national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, told a public forum at the summit he believed “the American people do deserve a degree of gratitude from the United States government for their willingness to step up and from the rest of the world as well”.
As another Ukrainian said in another thread here, we’re very grateful. It’s just we’re despaired and tired. So we want this nightmare to end sooner.
It feels like living in a dystopian TV show, where you trying to survive, while others watching. And you know those others are living a better life, which you used to live too. Not blaming anyone, it’s just exhaustion.
Water under the bridged.
Let’s move on and come with new ideas on how we can futher more UA
Be strong ua!!
what about British people? its their taxes
Perhaps ‘ole Benny ought to contemplate his own nation’s history and how it was for their people whilst under bombardment
Mayhaps he thinks his people ought to have thank the USA , more
No complaints from me. In fact it’s a refreshing change to see my tax £ going towards a not corrupt cause
The commentariat is again covering itself in glory by missing the point because who can be bothered reading a whole paragraph.
Wallace’s comments, with have been wildly misreported, were in reference to the US house and upcoming elections, elections that could see lawmakers who are less supportive of Ukraine getting elected.
Not about being grateful to the UK.
Bloody tabloids had me in a rage until I read up what Mr Wallace was actually saying.. I swear to god our newspapers and media are so hungry to out the UK down..is it because they’re owned by Rupert burdock???
I’m a true Tory-hating, left-leaning, mildly socialist Labour voter, but I think Wallace is being unfairly quoted out of context repeatedly. While it’s always tempting for us on the left to hit the right with an opportune stick and vice-versa, doing so on such small matters as an out-of context quote only helps create a false narrative of disunity and temporarily heartens and brings a lopsided smile to vodka-sozzled Russian planners and makers of discord and war.
Together, stronger. Write your MPs / representatives to remind them on why we need to support Ukraine, and to express thanks to those who, even if on the other side of the spectrum, are in the positions of power to do so already.
After Brexit we need Ukraine as much as they need us.
The last couple weeks this subreddit has been full of posts and comments full of not gratitude, but vitriol toward NATO and it members. I found them offensive enough to stop reading membership threads. They say from Ukrainians, I like to think Russian trolls. I know Ukraine is grateful for the aide as I am grateful to Ukraine for being freedom’s sword. The rest is noise.
Got to feel sorry for Zelenskyy. He has to learn all the leaders names and the UK doesn’t help by changing PM so often, three in one war. Saying that let’s hope he has to learn another new name soon.
While unfair to Wallace (at least he will get a call from Reznikov, so I call it a win), there are people who share this sentiment. And I believe it seems almost reasonable, even justifiable to those less impacted. Indeed, you don’t owe us anything. The question of whether you owe it to yourself is yours to answer.
The reality is, it’s possible to feel both gratitude and irritation simultaneously. True, you did infinitely more than you had to. I can’t even begin to count the number of lives of people I personally know that were saved by Western aid. It’s a debt we will never be able to repay, not in our lifetimes. Yet, it wasn’t enough. Perhaps it wasn’t timely enough, or maybe our actions and decisions fell short of perfection. But the nightmare continues. If you have more to offer – we implore you to give it. Not out of our own greed, but because we want this avalanche of obituaries to cease, to at least diminish, because it’s fucking unbearable.
This might make us sound ungrateful, resentful even. Perhaps we are. But take a moment to compare the support you are providing to our country now with the support you gave a year or two ago. We haven’t changed, but your perception shifted the moment our pleas began to sound like demands. And frankly, being perceived as an arrogant, ungrateful pricks is the smallest price we’ve paid throughout this war.
We love Ukraine and we gave you a gentleman’s promise. There’s a reason we set the way for MBTs and Cruise missiles. We want to see Ukraine free, in NATO & EU with cities rebuilt to their former beauty. Not to mention, we don’t give a single shit what putler says, we have nukes and enough coke heads to put Russia to bed for good.
Makes me a proud (ex forces) Brit to get praise from one so exalted as President Zelensky.
We are grateful to Ukraine – you guys are the Heroes!
I hope we can continue to send more weapons!
