Government Guidelines from 20+ years ago on being a healthy weight. No chance they’d publish this now. by Captain_365 Tags:ireland 9 comments For historical context, this was published in a leaflet or magazine from back then. [Here’s a PDF of the whole thing.](https://drive.google.com/file/d/10-SVOAS-LMxY-CoupuOjgLWbaJ6AfQB8/view?usp=drivesdk) They’d probably use kilograms now. Edit: They use both: https://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/2/primarycare/east-coast-diabetes-service/management-of-type-2-diabetes/lifestyle-management/healthy-eating-advice/bmi-chart.pdf At 6”1 and just over 15 stone, it’s crazy that 14 stone would be considered overweight Helpful chart In fairness I would prefer to be called “fat” rather than “obese class 1” 😅 As u/worktemp has shown, they still publish it. And it has the same “BMI does not measure %-fat or musculature” problem as back then. BMI is a dangerous scale when used by itself. Brian O’Driscoll in the height of his career would have been considered obese if the chart was used. Half of my problem is obesity runs in the family.. The other half of the problem is nobody runs in the family.. You don’t need charts or even a weighing sealed to know if you’re overweight. Stand in front of a mirror in the nip and your eyes will tell you. Leave a ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
