The most famous Romanian immigrant to France is Eugène Ionesco, who famously wrote the play “Rhinoceros”, which is still widely read in French schools even today. It’s about some people in a village who turn into rhinoceroses. Yeah, you read me right, it’s some avant-garde insane brilliance. A lesson against conformity. It’s basically a metaphor about people turning fascist. Basically some Romanian-French equivalent of “Animal Farm”.
I don’t know about George Enescu, but I’m happy we rename streets with our Romanian brethren. Are there some particular compositions of Enescu you can share?
Honestly it’s such a fucking relief to know that some people remember us for something like our fine arts and not.. something else.
