India fines French firm Dassault Aviation over offset delays

  1. Most western defence firms never intend on discharging their offset promises in countries like India, it’s often financially advantageous to simply pay the penalties.

Unfortunately I think India is seeking offsets that they’ll never be granted, technologies like low observability design, aesa radar and missile technologies tend to be restricted to western nations.

  2. Well… They’re getting their planes delivered on time as was the case with the Kalvari-class submarines. There’s been no issue. I can understand why Dassault might be a bit more reticent about the whole tech transfer deal. But I think such issues will improve once we further deepen ties and there’s even more trust.

  3. French or any other exporter of advance weapnoary is never gonna provide a third world importer with offset tech. Paying fine is the easier way out.
