What a beautiful country you guys have, seriously!
I live in Switzerland and I’ve been to Bosnia and Croatia several times but WOW Slovenia is like if you mix the best things from all of them in a blender and BOOM you end up with a nice refreshing Balkan/Alpine hybrid smoothie with snow-capped mountains and beautiful wooden houses but also cevapi & some cool communist buildings.
You guys are all so nice and even though many people spoke English they let me goof around with my limited Slovenian language abilities and were so encouraging even though I only could say a few sentences (mixed with words I know from Bosnian). Except for this one bus driver who didn’t let me get on the bus because I was holding unopened food that I wasn’t planning on eating on the bus (Is that really a rule????). He was not nice.
Anyways, hitchhiking question:
I trekked for 4 days with my girlfriend and the first day we planned on walking from Bled to Mojstrana in the Sava valley, but we ended up hitchhiking a bit when the going got rough (the lethal combo of rain+no sidewalks). I wanted to ask how hitchhiking is perceived in Slovenia? In Italy I know from experience it’s quite difficult/frowned upon, and Croatia is a mixed bag. But in Slovenia we were picked up by a very friendly woman within 5-10 minutes. I didn’t research the hitchhiking culture before we went because we were not planning on doing it at all.
If anyone is interested, I made a little video about our experience walking in the countryside/hitchhiking the rest of the way, plus (hopefully) informing people on random facts/historical nuggets about Slovenia: [https://youtu.be/QSTc3Quv4W4](https://youtu.be/QSTc3Quv4W4). I find former Yugoslavia incredibly fascinating and Slovenia was no exception!
Hvala vam 🙂
TLDR Your country is amazing, and what is hitchhiking culture like in Slovenia?

Depends on the bus driver but I have seen a guy with a pizza box being denied entrance for the same reason. Just hide food in your backpack. Hitchhiking is not frowned upon but I have heard stories of people being robbed by pickpockets larping as hitchhikers that way.
